AMLA is available to provide legal aid regarding various legal issues. The organization is divided into five Departments, each tasked with managing legal problems within their respective area:
Civil Rights/Human Rights Department - Handles matters pertaining to domestic civil rights, immigration, and/or international human rights.
Family Law Department - Handles matters pertaining to wills and estates, divorce and custody, children's rights, etc.
Litigation Department - Handles matters pertaining to general civil and/or criminal disputes.
Legal Entities Department - Handles matters pertaining to incorporation and legal status, patents and trademarks, and general transactions.
Property Department - Handles matters pertaining to real property.
