Asif M. Arif – President

Asif M. Arif serves as the President of AMLA and the founder of Arif Law Offices, P.C., an international law firm specializing in immigration law in France and the United States. His practice spans marriage-based petitions, investors, business and talent-based immigration, removal defense, and asylum cases. A recognized authority in his field, Asif has been ranked among the top three immigration attorneys in Paris, France.

Beyond his legal practice, Asif has written six books on topics including Islam, secularism, international law, and immigration law in French. His expertise and thought leadership have made him a sought-after voice at the intersection of law, policy, and cross-border advocacy.


Hamida B. Owusu – Vice President

Hamida B. Owusu serves as Vice President of AMLA. She is an immigration attorney for children, and has previous experience lawyering in the public interest; as a federal judicial law clerk; and in private practice at an Am Law 100 firm. Hamida earned her J.D. in 2014 from Stanford Law School.


Umer Chaudhry – Treasurer

Umer Chaudhry is the Treasurer of AMLA and a Senior Associate at Cooley LLP, where he advises clients on complex regulatory matters in government contracts and national security. His practice focuses on industries critical to global security, including artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and cybersecurity. Umer’s expertise helps both domestic and international clients navigate legal and compliance challenges in high-stakes, innovation-driven sectors.


Zane A. Chowdhry – General Secretary

Zane A. Chowdhry serves as General Secretary of AMLA and is an Associate at Perkins Coie LLP. He earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where he contributed as an Administrative Editor of the Georgetown Journal of International Affairs and Staff Editor at the Georgetown Law Technology Review. His legal and editorial background equips him with a sharp analytical perspective on international affairs and emerging technologies.
